2008 High Five Cow Work Championship Saddle: New for 2008, The High Five awards are based on a single horse/rider combo's cow work score in a specific class. The High Five Champion will receive a saddle while Reserve Champion will receive a pair of custom made chaps. There will be prizes awarded from 3rd to 5th as well. Must show 7 times, except for Open and Non Pro Derby horses which must show in 5 of the 6 shows. Box only classes are included as it is "cow work" not just fence work.
How is it calculated? Take the five highest cow work scores from a horse/rider in a specific class and average them. Highest average wins. For shows with more than one judge, the average score of the judges will be used (ie, a 73, 72 1/2 from two judges would result in an average of 72.75) Finally an example of the High Five calculation -- John Smith, riding Hes a Great Horse, competes in the Ltd Open Bridle in 9 of the 10 shows. His scores are 73, 74, 70, 66, 68, 71, 72.25, 71.75, 71. Taking the highest five scores and dividing by 5 results in a High Five score of 72.4. First tie breaker - high individual score. Second tie breaker - 2nd high individual score. Third tie breaker - highest score at the Fall Futurity, Horse Show #1. Fourth tie breaker - most shows entered. Please contact Jerry Peters at (303) 243-1703 with any questions about the High Five contest.
2008 Show Schedule: Here are some of the upcoming cow horse shows in our area. Please check the Events page for the full schedule. 2008 year end qualifying shows have an asterisk (*) beside them. Double asterisks denote two sets of classes at a show. Riders must show in 7 shows to qualify for year end awards:
